Keep It Fresh Ep. 2

Interesting opening and closing tracks on this cast. With regards to the opening track…I like it. Deal with it. The last track is in my opinion really something special. I’d be really interested to hear what others think. I have to say it was fun taking those two tracks and filling the gap in between…

New Arcade

Just put this up as a little follow on from my new found love of Final Fantasy. Arcade Fire have been talking a bit about their new album due early 2007. This was taken from the latest Hot Press.
“This week we’re recording a huge fucking pipe organ on two songs. What an amazing sound! There’s also talk of recording a few songs with a full orchestra in Budapest. The next couple of weeks we’ll be pulling our hair out!”

- Win Butler (Arcade Fire frontman)

Owen Pallet (Final Fantasy) is helping on the production side of things. Sounds good. Sounds very very good.

Side note: Dans photos from Wednesday nights Joan as a Policewoman gig are being used in an English news paper. I can’t remember which one but I’m sure you will find all the details here.

Half a gig and bacon double cheeseburger…

Nice night of randomness last night. I headed into town with Dan last night. He had a couple of gigs he had to shoot at then we we’re gonna wrap things up at First Taste/Antics. We started at the Sugar Club for The Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players with support from Patrick Freyne and his Bad Intentions.

I wasn’t imediatly taken by Patrrick Freyne and Co. The best description of their music I can offer is that its based in folk but burrows elements from gospel, pop and rock on some songs. Three songs in they did win me over Continue reading ‘Half a gig and bacon double cheeseburger…’

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy had always been a name I’d heard around (it does kinda stand out) but had never really given it any more thought. This changed all that. I highly recommend watching this video and seeing how a song can actually be ‘made’ in front of you.

Watch the video at The Anchor Center.

Keep It Fresh Episode 1

hello hello and welcome to the first of what will hopefully be a regular podcast. Check out the About page for all the details on this wee venture of mine. Remember this has been put together on bare bone equipment so please bear with the sound quality. Please give feedback positive or negative…I’m learning something new all the time! Couple of things I wanna mention:

>I’m looking for and intro/outro jingle for the show, about 15-30 seconds long. If anyone wants to put something together it would be well appreciated…I’ll even give you a pressie!

>Think something should feature on the show? Send in the mp3, link or suggestion!

Bit of a theme with this show. It was band names a had trouble saying. Oh well, things can only get better! Be sure to check out Peter, Bjorn and John. I dare you not to whistle along to that track. The rather cool video is on their myspace.
