I *heart* Scotland

For a number of reasons:

1)It provided me with a great weekend away.

2)It has some of the hottest women on the planet with the sexiest accent to boot.

3)It has one of the most amazing citys on the planet (Edinburgh)

4)It gave us The Fratellis who are currently releasing three 8″ singles as a build up to their debut album Costello Music which has a release date of Sept. 11th. With a healthy tracklisting I have high hopes for this album. Become a member on their webpage to get plenty of free tracks. If you didn’t catch them at Oxegen they play 1st November @ The Village.

The Grates

The ever excellent Aussie popsters, The Grates, hit Irish shores this Thursday 24th in Whelans. With a huge following on their home soil, The Grates have hit the west with a tour covering the UK and USA before returning home for a huge run of shows. This is a one night stop over between playing the V festival and Barfly in Liverpool so see them while you can!

This tantalising two girl, one boy guitar pop trio are a huge breath of fresh air to the uk music scene, a much needed ray of sunshine and a set of songs that recall Ash at their youthful, brilliant best. With incredibly named, attired and vocally blessed front woman Patience Hodgson, The Grates have a star in the making at their helm. With the band’s tremendous energy, their gigs take on the atmosphere of a huge party, with the band’s own enjoyment and sense of fun entirely infectious to one and all.

Friday Review - CSS

So any blog regulars will know all about Cansei De Ser Sexy.I’ve loved every track thats been touted on the world wide web and I finally got the self titled album (CSS) during the week. Unfortuntatly I’m a little disapointed. Its not that the album’s bad, it’s just not the Alice In Wonderland trip I was expecting. More a Through the Looking Glass affair.

All the standout tracks are here, Lets Make Love and Listen to Death From Above is one of my favourite tracks so far this year, others include Meeting Paris Hilton, Off The Hook and Music Is My Hot Sex. While the rest of the album is good it just seems to melt into filler as you listen through. I do like this album and recommend getting it. This is CSS’s first international album so its understandable that it might be rough around the edges. With 11 tracks coming in at under 35mins do shop around for the best price.

For the record I do love CSS. They bring all the right amounts of music, fashion, sex and pop culture together in one neat little package. And I hear they put on a great live show! This is a nice warm up to what will hopefully be a fantastic second album.
