Feta

I would like to publicly thank the Market Bar for my new current food obsession: feta cheese. The Market Bar has always walked a fine line for me. On one side of the line is some excellently prepared and presented food, ranging from salads to meatballs, it officially comes under the name of Tapas @ The Market Bar. On the other side of that extremely thin line is the bar itself which can be a decibel level to high when the crowds fill it. There’s also the staggered service policy which means you could have finished your meal, polished off a bottle of red, payed the bill and taken a taxi home before your date/friend/companion/significant other has even seen their dish of choice.* But again I bring you back to the excellent food and I must admit to having a soft spot for the joint when I’m in the mood.

Now to the feta salad in question. A meager €7.50 for the small (more than enough), their feta salad is a treat. I’d always been partial to the cheese but after my Market Bar experience at the weekend, I’ve been throwing the lil white blocks into everything. The salad in question consisted of a baby spinach and rocket base, crispy bacon, roasted walnuts and croutons and comes highly recommended with a glass of red. I’m sure our resident alcoholic wine expert, Sarah, can point us in the direction of a suitable companion to this very affordable and delicious dish.
