Asobi Seksu/Scanners November Dates

Scanners @ SXSW ‘07

Two great bands descend upon Crawdaddy on November 25th. Brooklyn’s Asobi Seksu headline with support from one of my favorite UK acts, Scanners. This is part of a major UK tour which also includes a November 26th performance at Belfast’s The Speakeasy.

Tickets are €14 and available from Ticketmaster.

p.s Don’t forget Los Campesinos! play Whelans tomorrow night. Tickets still available. It’s gonna be a great night!

It’s Time I Got To Know You Now - The Ones & The Twos

Today is Friday.

If you do one thing today, go and marvel at The LK (AKA Lovekevins), as part of the HWCH festival in the Pod complex, Harcourt Street. They take over the Crawdaddy Stage at 20.40 and you would be rather simple to miss it. Seriously, I saw the band three times last year and they’re most definitely a central attraction at this weekend’s tomfoolery.

They’re Swedish for Christ’s sake.

And song lyrics include “Panda Bear”, “Tandem Bikes”, “The Fall” and “Fuck all”. AND they wear spectacles with panache. What’s not to love?

I like the LK

I dislike anything else that’s on at the same time as them. Purely by default.

Play-doh!

Oh Sony Bravia let me count the ways…well there are two actually. Balls and paint. But number three is on the way, form of play-doh! So here’s the stats:

2.5 tonnes of plasticine on set
40 animators
3 weeks
189 2ft bunnies
150 1ft cubes
10ft x 20ft purple wave
30ft giant rabbit.
6 cameras.
40 animators working through 4 hours generated 4 seconds of footage.
40 animators working on the same scene had never been attempted before.
The 60 second spot will be constructed of approximately 100,000 stills.

What a generation we live in when adverts get teaser trailers and said trailers actually get me excited. Read all about the new bunny play-doh commercial by checking out bravia-advert.com.

Heres the making of video for the original bouncy balls ad which helped push Jose Gonzalez into the public domain.

HWCH Watchlist - MIGALINX

Not really much to say about MIGALINX because, well I don’t really know much about them. Another group I came across while checking out this year’s lineup, all I can tell you is the following:

  1. Their Irish.
  2. There’s three of them.
  3. Track Glitch is a cracker.
  4. Thy have a myspace - www.myspace.com/migalinx
  5. They play the Odeon on Sunday 30th at 11pm as part of HWCH
  6. They will ‘hopefully’ have a four track EP released in time for October.

Can anybody add anything to that?

HWCH Watchlist - Noise Control

Loud. Crunchy. Dirty. Electro. Punk. Rock. Noise Control. Single “Steel” quickly made it to No.2 in the Irish download charts and Noise Control have been snowballing ever since. The band played support to The Prodigy for the Irish leg of their European tour so already their hanging out with the right crowd. My first introduction to Noise Control was last years IMRO showcase and I guarantee you they will take the roof off the Pod room when they play this year’s HWCH. Look out for them at 10pm on the Saturday and be sure to check out the Star Little Thing remix of Steel on their myspace.
